Open Free Memory TestWhat is this tool?
The Free Memory Test executes a genuine browser-based memory stress and data verification test using TypedArrays (Uint8Array) and ArrayBuffers.
Allocations occur in safe, controlled chunks (16 MB to 128 MB) to evaluate whether the browser environment can allocate and sustain memory under active workloads without crashing or failing.
Each allocated block is filled with deterministic bit patterns (such as alternating 0xAA/0x55 bytes or walking ones) and verified byte-for-byte to confirm data integrity.
The tool honestly distinguishes browser-accessible memory from physical RAM, displaying real navigator.deviceMemory and performance.memory telemetry where supported.
How to use it
- Select your test size and durationChoose a safe test workload (e.g. 256 MB or 512 MB) and test duration. The tool automatically detects your device's memory class and disables unsafe allocation sizes.
- Start the memory testClick 'Start Memory Test'. The engine allocates memory in discrete chunks, writing and verifying each block while updating the live canvas activity graph.
- Monitor live allocation and operationsWatch real-time metrics including Test Allocated Memory, active blocks, bytes written, bytes verified, and the live verification verdict badge.
- Stop or allow the test to completeYou can click 'STOP TEST' at any time to immediately halt operations and free all memory buffers. Once the duration completes, review the summary results panel.
What the results mean
Verification Verdict (PASS / FAILED)
PASS confirms that all allocated memory blocks were successfully written and verified without byte mismatches or out-of-memory exceptions.
Peak Test Allocation
The highest volume of memory simultaneously held in active buffers during the session.
Memory Operations Count
Total count of buffer allocations, deterministic pattern writes, and verification reads completed during the test.
Tips
- Close heavy background applications or excessive browser tabs before running large tests (1 GB+) to prevent operating system paging stutter.
- If testing on mobile devices, use conservative test sizes (128 MB or 256 MB) to preserve mobile operating system responsiveness.
- Remember that browser tests evaluate browser-accessible memory stability; for diagnosing suspected physical RAM hardware defects (BSODs), use a bootable tool like MemTest86.
Troubleshooting
The test stopped and reported an allocation failure.
The browser reached its tab virtual memory ceiling or system RAM was temporarily exhausted. Choose a smaller test size (such as 256 MB) and run the test again.
Device Memory displays 'Not available in this browser'.
The navigator.deviceMemory API is supported in modern Chromium browsers (Chrome, Edge, Opera, Brave) but deliberately omitted by Safari and Firefox for fingerprint protection.
Why doesn't the test show my full 16 GB or 32 GB of RAM?
Web browsers run in a secure sandbox and do not have permission to query exact physical hardware specifications. Any website claiming to detect your exact RAM sticks is guessing.
