Audio testing documentation

Speaker, headphone and microphone checks built on the browser's own audio engine.

  • 11 documented tools
  • 0 downloads required

Overview

Verify that both channels play, that a headset is wired the right way round, that a microphone is being picked up, and that low frequencies actually reproduce. Playback tests generate tones in the browser; microphone tests need your explicit permission before they can read the input.

Which of these ask for a permission

Most tools here need nothing at all. These ones cannot work until your browser grants access, and each asks only when you start the test:

  • Microphone Test — Live level meter, waveform, spectrum and a local recording check.
  • Mic Latency Test — Observed acoustic loopback latency over ten rounds, with jitter and P95.
  • Speech to Text — Real-time browser speech recognition for voice-to-text transcription.

Note

A permission prompt is a browser feature, not a sign-up. Denying it only stops that one test; nothing else on the site changes.
