What is this tool?

The Kohi Click Test takes its name from the Minecraft PvP server that popularised it. The idea is simple: click as fast as you can for a fixed window and see your clicks per second.

This version reports four numbers rather than one — live CPS, average CPS, max CPS and your click intervals. Live CPS is a true one-second rolling count, not an extrapolation, so it never spikes to an impossible figure after a single fast click.

Three techniques are selectable — Classic, Jitter and Butterfly — and your personal best is stored per duration so a 10-second best never competes with a 60-second one.

How to use it

  1. Pick a duration1s, 5s, 10s (the default), 15s, 30s, 60s, or Custom with Apply for your own value.
  2. Pick a techniqueClassic, Jitter or Butterfly. This tags the run so your history stays comparable; it does not change how clicks are counted.
  3. Press START TEST and clickThe clock runs down while live CPS updates continuously. You can pause and resume — paused time is subtracted, so it does not dilute your average.
  4. Read the result cardIt shows total clicks, average CPS, max CPS, duration, fastest gap and average gap, plus your rank and how far you are from the next tier. TRY AGAIN repeats the same setup; NEW TEST returns you to the controls.

What the results mean

Live CPS

A count of clicks in the last 1000 milliseconds. Because the window is exactly one second wide, the number is already a per-second rate and no extrapolation is applied — which is why it cannot jump to 40 CPS from one twitch.

Average CPS

Total clicks ÷ elapsed seconds, rounded to one decimal place, with paused time excluded. This is the figure your rank and personal best are based on.

Max CPS

The highest value live CPS reached during the run. It represents your best single second, so it is always at or above your average.

Rank tiers

Below 4.0 CPS is Below Beginner; 4.0–5.9 Beginner; 6.0–7.9 Skilled; 8.0–9.9 Expert; 10.0 and above Master. The progress bar shows how close your average is to the next tier.

Fastest and average gap

The shortest and mean interval between clicks, in milliseconds. A 10 CPS average corresponds to a mean gap of about 100 ms, so the gap figures are a useful sanity check on the rate.

What it can detect

  • Average and peak clicking rate over your chosen window
  • Whether your rate is steady or collapses part-way through a longer run
  • The shortest and average interval between clicks, in milliseconds
  • Progress against five fixed rank tiers, with your best kept locally per duration

Limits worth knowing

A browser can only report what the platform gives it. These are the honest boundaries of this page, so a result is never read as more than it is.

  • This measures your hand and your technique. A higher mouse polling rate does not raise CPS — it only reduces how long a click waits to be reported.
  • Counting happens on browser pointer events, so the figures include operating-system and browser scheduling. It is not a hardware benchmark of your mouse.
  • A 1-second run is dominated by when you happened to start. Use 10 seconds or longer for anything you want to compare.

Tips

  • Compare like with like: same duration, same technique. A 10-second butterfly score against a 60-second classic score is not a comparison.
  • If your average is well below your max, you are burning out early. Aim for a rate you can hold for the whole window.
  • Jitter clicking tenses the forearm hard. Keep sessions short and stop if it hurts — there is no score worth an injury.

Troubleshooting

My CPS is different every time

Normal. Fatigue, grip, mouse surface and switch feel all move the number. Judge yourself on your best of several runs, not on a single one.

Does a gaming mouse help?

Lighter switches and a shorter click travel make fast clicking less tiring, which can help indirectly. Polling rate itself does not raise your CPS.

Are double clicks counted twice?

Every pointer press is counted once. If your mouse has a failing switch that fires twice from one press, the fastest-gap figure will show an impossibly small interval — that is a hardware fault, not a score.

Where are my results stored?

In your browser's local storage only. Nothing is uploaded, and clearing site data clears your history.
