Overview
This Privacy Policy describes how the Real Test Keyboard website (the “Site”) handles information when you visit or use it. The Site is operated by an individual hobbyist; there is no company, no team and no commercial relationship with the visitor. The goal of this page is to be honest about that.
The Site is a small collection of browser-based tools. Most of them do not send anything to a server while you are using them. The information described in this policy is the small amount of technical data the browser and the underlying hosting platform necessarily exchange, plus the things you can choose to share (for example, by contacting the Site owner).
Information We Collect
The Site collects three categories of information. Each is described below so you can see exactly what leaves your device and what does not.
Information you provide voluntarily
The Site has no account system, no contact form and no newsletter. The only information you can provide is what you choose to send in an email or message if you decide to contact the Site owner through one of the channels listed on theContact page. That information is whatever you write.
Information collected automatically
Like every public website, the Site is served through a hosting platform that records basic technical information about each request. This information is used for security, abuse detection and aggregate traffic measurement. It typically includes:
- Your IP address (which can identify your network).
- The page URL, referrer, user agent and the time of the request.
- HTTP response status, bytes transferred and similar technical metadata.
The Site does not collect additional fingerprints (no canvas fingerprinting, no font enumeration, no device fingerprints).
Information stored in your browser
Some tools save small pieces of data in your browser usinglocalStorage so the tool remembers your preferences between visits. Examples include the keyboard tester preferences (layout, standard, capture mode) and the typing test personal best. None of this data is sent to a server.
How We Use Information
Information is used only for the limited purpose of running the Site. Specifically:
- Running the tools. Browser-stored preferences make the tools remember your layout and personal best between visits.
- Security and abuse detection. Hosting logs are used to detect and block abusive traffic, scrapers and attacks.
- Responding to messages you send. If you contact the Site owner, the information you provide is used to reply and then archived like any normal correspondence.
The Site does not build a marketing profile, does not retarget visitors, and does not sell or share visitor data with third parties.
Analytics
The Site does not embed a third-party analytics script (no Google Analytics, Plausible, Fathom, Matomo, Cloudflare Analytics or similar). The only traffic data the Site owner sees is the same hosting log every site is served through — the basic request log described in theInformation We Collect section.
If this changes in the future (for example, if a privacy-respecting analytics tool is added), this page will be updated before the change goes live.
Third-Party Services
The Site uses a small number of third-party services to operate. Each of them is used for one specific job and is listed below.
- Hosting and edge delivery. The Site is served from a managed hosting platform (Cloudflare Pages). The platform records the request log described above and applies its own security and rate-limiting rules.
- Web font delivery. The Inter typeface is loaded from a public content-delivery network so the Site loads quickly across regions. The font CSS is fetched with your browser; the CDN may set standard request cookies.
- Optional translation. The optional language selector uses Google Website Translate to render the Site in other languages. Google sets the
googtranscookie described in the Cookiessection.
The Site does not embed any advertising networks, social widgets that track visitors across sites, fingerprinting libraries, or third-party session-replay tools.
External Links
The Site contains links to other websites (for example, the Contact page links to social channels, and articles in the blog may link to external resources). Once you follow a link to another website, this Privacy Policy no longer applies. The other site’s own privacy practices will govern.
Data Security
The Site is served over HTTPS, the hosting platform keeps the underlying software patched, and access to any source code or configuration is limited to the Site owner. Browser-stored preferences stay on your device and never transit the network.
No system is perfectly secure. If the Site owner becomes aware of a security incident that affects visitor data, the relevant section of this page will be updated promptly and, where required, a notice will be added to the home page.
Children’s Privacy
The Site is intended for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the Site does not require an account and does not request a name, address or any other identifier, the Site does not collect personal information from any specific age group.
If you believe a child has provided personal information through the Site (for example, in a message to the Site owner), contact the address listed in theContact section so it can be deleted.
Changes to This Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change. Material changes (those that broaden the categories of data collected or change the parties with whom data is shared) will be highlighted on the home page for at least 14 days before the new policy takes effect.
