Privacy Policy

Real Test Keyboard is built to be private by default. Everything runs in your browser, and your keystrokes never leave the page.

Last updated: 10 August 2026

The short version

  • We don't ask you to create an account or give us any personal details.
  • The keyboard test runs entirely in your browser — your keystrokes are never uploaded, recorded or sent to us.
  • We don't use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies.
  • The only thing stored is your layout and theme preference, saved on your own device.

Who we are

This Privacy Policy explains how Real Test Keyboard ("we", "us", or the "site"), available at realtestkeyboard.com, handles information when you use our free online keyboard tester. By using the site, you agree to the practices described here.

Your keystrokes stay on your device

The keyboard tester works by reading keyboard events directly in your browser to light up keys, count presses and detect chatter. This all happens locally on your device. We do not transmit, log or store the keys you press, and your key-press data never reaches our servers or any third party.

Information we collect

We do not collect personal information. There is no sign-up, no contact form that submits to us automatically, and no hidden data collection. Specifically, we do not collect your name, email address, location, or any profile of how you use the tool — unless you choose to email us directly (see "Contacting us" below).

Local storage on your device

To make the tool remember how you like it, we save a small preference in your browser's local storage — for example your chosen keyboard layout (Full, TKL or 60%) and your light or dark theme. This information stays on your device, is readable only by this site, and is never sent to us. You can clear it at any time through your browser's settings, and doing so simply resets the tool to its defaults.

Cookies and analytics

We do not use tracking or advertising cookies, and we do not run third-party analytics such as Google Analytics. We don't build a profile of you, follow you across other websites, or sell any data — because we don't collect it in the first place.

Third-party services

We keep outside services to a minimum. To display our typeface, the site loads the Geist web font from a public content-delivery network (jsDelivr). As with any file your browser requests from another server, that provider may receive standard technical information such as your IP address and browser type in order to serve the font. We don't control that provider's own logging, and we don't receive any of that information. The site may also be served through a hosting provider or CDN that keeps basic security and server logs, as is standard for websites.

Children's privacy

Real Test Keyboard is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

Contacting us

If you email us athello@realtestkeyboard.com, we'll have whatever you choose to put in that message (such as your email address and its contents) so we can reply. We use it only to respond to you, and nothing more.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time — for example, if the tool gains new features. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be reflected here, so we encourage you to review this page occasionally.

Questions

If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or how the tool works, please contact us — we're happy to explain.
